THE Short Story

  Betsey Chesler

Fine art photographer and photojournalist Betsey Chesler is an artist with a discourse.  Ms. Chesler's mission is reminiscent of the Art for Life's Sake movement of the 1930's: To merge photo journalism with art to enlighten and bring special attention to social needs throughout the world.  Her photographs reveal, inspire and challenge viewers to the call to action for positive change to social conditions of men, women and children across the globe.

Fine Art Photographer

Given her natural talent to visualize the aesthetic dimensions in her work, Ms. Chesler enjoys creating color photography while pursuing her greatest passion of Infrared photography work. Overall, she creates art through the use of natural light, without manipulation of subject or scene, focusing on tone and texture.

Since the days of building cardboard cameras at age 10, Connecticut native and long-time resident of Boca Raton, FL, Betsey Chesler has worked as a photographer in the print media, been published in national photography publications and participated in various collective and solo exhibitions throughout the United States.

In 2009, Ms. Chesler founded Cameras For Kids Foundation (CFKF), an international nonprofit providing cameras and weekly instruction to disadvantaged teens, teaching the art of photography while instilling self-esteem, self-confidence and offering the children a skill set. During the eight years of running the program, Ms. Chesler placed cameras in the hands of over 1,000 at risk kids though out the US, Canada and Haiti.
